Jessica Booker is a senior here at Fort Valley State University majoring in Biology and has been a hard working individual throughout her educational endeavors. Jessica is driven and an inspiration to others within her department. As a former student of Henry County High School and a member of the high school club, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), she was very excited about learning more about the field of biology. Jessica holds a certification in CPR. Here at Fort Valley State University, she was a member of The Blue Machine Marching Band’s Dancing Doll Divas dance line, where she danced two years and her last year served as the captain. Jessica also participates in various clubs and events around the school. Jessica is a member of both Science club and Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students. Jessica enjoys researching and working in the laboratory. Jessica looks forward to finishing her research and presenting at various conferences soon. She has the aspirations of furthering her education through various programs and ultimately becoming a Pediatrician and owning a private practice.
Andrea Mclendon, age 26, grew up in Miami Florida and graduated from Mundy’s Mill High School. She was a star athlete, president of the poetry club, and devoted every moment of her free time to volunteering at hospital’s and retirement homes. Andrea also spent most of her time attending seminars/outreach programs that informed people on major health issues and how they could better themselves individually. Andrea was able to combine her love for medicine with her passion for helping people,by coordinating free HIV testing and free health care events. Andrea is currently attending Fort Valley State University as a biology major with a minor in Spanish. Andrea plans on graduating from Fort Valley State University with a biology bachelor’s degree and a master’s in public health.She intends to apply and successfully complete medical school. From there she plans on becoming an trauma surgeon and practicing emergency room medicine. As a doctor and pillar of the community,she hopes to become a strong leader and inspire her colleagues while also giving back to the community. Andrea plans to provide free health care to those who can’t afford health insurance.Andrea is an individual who always looks to what the future can be and one thing she wants to do is be beneficial and lend a helping hand and uplift others so they to can get ahead in life.
Yasmine Moffett is a sophomore here at Fort Valley State University majoring in Biology, and has been an outstanding student throughout her educational pursuits. She is very hard working and is a motivation and inspiration to others. As a former student of Coffee High School (CHS) and South Georgia College, a result of CHS’s dual enrollment program, Yasmine done extremely well in academics. She was awarded honor roll, highest final grade in Health and Fitness, highest final grade in Teaching as a Profession, and she holds certifications in Serv Safe and Microsoft Office. Yasmine was also very active in Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), a high school based club where she served as Vice President of Competitive Events, Vice President of Community Services, and Chief of Staff. She also competed at the national level in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events and receiving Gold recognitions each time. Throughout her service in FCCLA, Yasmine represented CHS at the State-wide Leadership Conference and was even recognized by the Coffee County Board of Education for her noteworthy accomplishments. During her high school career, Yasmine was recognized for earning over 200 community service hours and was a recipient of First National Bank South’s Outstanding Student Scholarship. Yasmine had the pleasure of participating in the High School Energy Summer Institute Intern at Clark Atlanta University under the supervision of Doctor Olugbemiga Olatidoye. Since transferring to Fort Valley state University, Yasmine has become a member of the CDEP program and the Science Club. She has aspirations of continuing her educational pursuits and becoming a Pharmacist.
Haley Hudson is a senior biology major at Fort Valley State University. She displays interest in research and conducting lab experiments. She graduated from Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia with honors. In high school, she was a member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders in America) and the community service committee at Westlake called Westlake Works. Haley has been awarded Honor Roll and two Cadet Summer Leadership certificates from ROTC. She participates in ROTC with the result of commissioning as a second Lieutenant in the US Army upon graduation. Haley was also the secretary of the science club at Fort Valley State University and also served as a Student Ambassador for the University. In ROTC, she has received awards including female with the highest Physical fitness score and most improved female. As a biology major, she has future goals to become an optometrist and one day owning her own practice
Miciah Lyons is a senior biology major here at Fort Valley State University and has been doing academically well throughout the years of attending Fort Valley. As a former student of Centennial High School, she graduated as a honor roll student. Miciah is a member of the Women’s Learning Community (WLC), a college organization where women empower one another to excel in their courses and encourage each others to reach their goals in life. She has done volunteer work at a nursing home Fort Valley, GA, serves food at local festivals in Roberta, GA, and has volunteered as a host at multiple events held at Fort Valley State University. While attending Fort Valley State University, Miciah has become a member of the Science Club. She has future goals on continuing her education to become a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Cardiology.
